The Brecon Beacons in the background. It is generally thought that three churches may have stood on the site of St David’s, Llanddew; and during its time as a Celtic Christian “Clas” (in the centuries between Roman and Norman rule) Llanddew would have been the controlling “hub” religious community, for all the surrounding area’s chapels and communities. It has been written that the Church in Llanddew, at certain points in its history, was superior to the Williams, John b June 2 1747 Llanelly, Brecon, Wales, he was a red head from Brecknockshire who had been sentenced to 14 years transportation (convict ship Duke of Portland 1807) after deserting 35th Sussex Regiment.
I am trying to find John's parents and any siblings.
Up to present day, no one can conclusively say who his parents were.
William Williams and Ann Jones were the parents of John Williams. But have found no proof to confirm this.
There were approximately 49 possibilities who might be candidates for his parents. |

Hello tiggerbrat,
When did he desert? He would have been 60 in 1807 - did they take their time in catching up with him? Or are the details a little suspect?

Sorry I mistyped year John Williams born June 2 1787 I have no details about his deserting
John Williams was a convict who to arrived at Port Jackson aboard the " Duke of Portland" on the 27th July 1807. Prior to his sentence he was a private in the 2nd Battalion of the 35th Regiment of Foot, but had deserted twice and on the 22nd April 1806 was tried at Chichester Barracks in Sussex, and convicted of sedition and desertion. He was sentenced to 14 years transportation to the colony.
After serving nearly 10 years of his sentence he was granted a Conditional Pardon in 1816. |

John Williams' place and date of birth will almost certainly be impossible to determine. Historically, the Welsh had used a patronymic surname system meaning that the surname for each generation was derived from the given name of the person's father. This means, for example, that William Thomas' son John would be called John Williams, while John Williams' son Robert would be called Robert Jones, and so on. For this reason, surnames deriving from given names (like Thomas, Williams, Roberts &c) are the most common Welsh surnames, and the name John Williams is as common as the English John Smith. |

Now I'm really confused! You mentioned a place and date in your first posting, albeit with a typo - where did they come from? The thing to be aware of about patronyms is that they disappeared over quite a long period, depending which area of Wales you are interested in. John Williams isn't the easiest name to track but it should not be impossible if you have some kind of a lead, such as the place and date you mentioned before.

Osama Bin Ladin's Lover (one of many)
Called "the African Garbo" by The New York Times and acclaimed for the modern African works Flesh and the Devil, Long Train to the Redeeming Sin and Nile River Woman, Egyptian-Sudanese-American novelist and poet KOLA BOOF was forced to save her American citizenship in 2002 by admitting to being the former mistress of terrorist OSAMA BIN LADEN (1996)...a relationship that Kola Boof insists was against her will. At no time in history has Ms. Boof referred to herself as a "sex slave", but the U.S. Media has often falsely reported this along with other lies about the author. In a 2-part interview with MSNBC NEWS (WATCH VIDEO) Ms. Boof stated that she has never been anyone's "sex slave" and refused to be called one. In the late 1990's, Kola Boof was a secret agent performing spy missions for the SPLA (notably Operation Miuokda). In 2007, Kola Boof won her first major writing award from of all places, Stockholm, Sweden, the 2007 Woman to Woman Swedish Writer's Pen for Boof's Non-fiction article "I Am My Own Daughter" in OTTAR MAGAGINE, and headlined a triumphant reading at the prestigious Schomburg Center in N.Y. Noted PRINCETON critic Kam Williams chose Ms. Boof's autobiography Diary of a Lost Girl as the 2006 BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR (SEE STORY), and in 2008, officials of the South Sudanese government appointed Kola Boof National Chairwoman of the United States Branch of the SSPP Peace Organization, serving under President Francis Bok and Commanders in Sudan--BF Bankie and Deng Ajak. Despite the U.S. Media's unprofessional jokes about Boof's name and their mis-reporting of the details of her involvement with Osama Bin Laden, noted N.Y. University Professor and writer Derrick Bell has called Boof "a brilliantly gifted writer", and the legendary Nigerian Scholar and critic Chinweizu in 2005 wrote a letter to Chinua Achebe and Toni Morrison heralding Boof as "Africa's most important new novelist". Stephen Elliott, author of Happy Baby and Looking Forward to It, has said that Boof "writes like a singer" and The New York Times praised her work as, "earthy, angry and alluring." Boof was famously attacked by journalist Peter Bergen in 2006, but comments he made about the veracity of her autobiography were quickly proven incorrect (SEE STORY). In America, Boof has been widely criticized by journalists and fellow liberal Democrats for her PRO-America/PRO-Africa/ANTI-Arab Muslim political stance and has been labeled a "Jew Lover." Additionally, the author has suffered ridiculous accusations of being a "cannibal," "mind-controlled by the CiA," and the subject of Internet troll websites that distort Ms. Boof's history and post lies about her comments and writings. All controversies aside, Kola Boof is essentially a novelist and poet. Kola Boof has been featured in Harper's Literary Magazine, and interviewed by MSNBC NEWS, FOX NEWS, GMTV (UK), BNN Television (Netherlands) and was featured on CNN SHOWBIZ TODAY and in TIME MAGAZINE. A documentary about Kola Boof's life and work which features footage with her children is also available online (WATCH VIDEO). Kola Boof Says Osama bin Laden Loved Whitney Houston.. Blames Bobby Brown -If you're anything like me, you're thinking, who is Kola Boof? She's a Sudanese writer with six books to her name, the latest being Diary of a Lost Girl: The Autobiography of Kola Boof. Although her story has been told in newspapers for a number of years, it's in that book that she tells of her time as Osama Bin Laden's 'sex slave.' In 1996 she claims she was held against her will at Morocco's Prince Fabrizzio Ruspolli estate and used for his sexually deviant pleasures.
A statement that Prince Ruspoli has confirmed, as far as them staying at his estate. La Maison Arabe
This woman has an interesting story that should be fleshed out a little more, no time for that now. I haven't even done the digging to comment with a straight face. But by all means, check her official site and this one which has a ton of news links, audio, video and an interview where she describes the first time she met Bin Laden..
"We met in a restaurant in Marrakech. I was there with my date and Osama came in with his men and ordered me over to his table. They escorted my date out of the restaurant and I never saw him again. Osama chatted with me for a few minutes, and then later that night, he came to my hotel room with his men and he raped me very violently. And then a few days after that, his men arrived again at my hotel...only this time to fetch me and my belongings. They took me to the Medina, La Maison Arabe, and I was kept there in the Winston Churchill room for six months. Osama came to the estate off and on, about four out of those six months total. He had sex with me and I accompanied him and his men on hunting expeditions and fishing trips. I got to know a lot of his friends, such as his doctor Ayman al-Zawahiri."
Two things I find really crazy: a Moroccan estate that has a room named after Winston Churchill and this 'rape' which included fishing trips and what have you. Maybe she got the special treatment. Considering she said Osama's feeling about black women was, "African women are only good for a man's lower pleasures. What need do you have for wombs?" Guess that didn't include Boof [entirely].. or Whitney Houston.
Harper's Magazine printed an excerpt from her book where she says that Osama was crazy in love with Whitney Houston. "He said that he had a paramount desire for [Houston] and although he claimed music was evil, he spoke of someday spending vast amounts of money to go to America and try to arrange a meeting."
Whitney's $100 million Arista contract? She could keep that for pocket change. Osama wanted to make her one of his wives, "He said he wanted to give her a mansion that he owned in a suburb of Khartoum. He explained to me that to possess Whtney, he would be willing to break his color rule and make her one of his wives."
The comedy in this doesn't begin until you hear how he blamed Whitney's downfall on Bobby Brown. Haha. This guy can't get a break. "He would say how beautiful she is, what a nice smile she has, how truly Islamic she is but is just brainwashed by American culture and by her husband - Bobby Brown, whom Osama talked about having killed, as if it were normal to have women's husbands killed."
The obsession was so deep.. "I would come across photographs of the Star magazine, as well as copies of Playboy. It would come to the point where I was sick of hearing Whitney Houston's name."
Wait a minute, is that how an 'unwilling sex slave' thinks.. Jealous of the next chick?
Barak's dad, Barak.
Barack Obama Snr started life with the advantage of being able to read and write, but he also felt a profound sense of injustice. His father was a cook for British settlers in Kenya, who demeaningly called him their 'personal boy'.
Grandfather Obama sent his son to a missionary school but after completing his education, the youth could find little work except goatherding in his remote village of Nyangoma Kogela, in the roadless hills of Western Kenya.
At 18, he married a girl called Kezia. But Obama Snr was more interested in politics and economics than his family and his political leanings had been brought to the notice of leaders of the Kenyan Independence movement.
He was put forward for an American-sponsored scholarship in economics, with the idea being that he would eventually use his Western-honed skills in the new Kenya. At the age of 23 he headed for university in Hawaii, leaving behind the pregnant Kezia and their baby son.
Relatives say he was already a slick womaniser and, once in Honolulu, he promptly persuaded a fellow student called Ann - a naive 18-year-old white girl - to marry him. Barack Jnr was born in August, 1961. Was the marriage bigamous?
Two years later, Obama Snr was on the move again. He was accepted at Harvard, and left his little boy and wife behind when he moved to the exclusive east coast university.
At the time, Ann explained to their son that his father had gone because his meagre stipend would not support the family if they lived together. But finance was the least of her worries.
Mr Obama Jnr claims that racism on both sides of the family destroyed the marriage between his mother and father.
In his book, he says that Ann's mother, who went by the nickname Tut, did not want a black son-in-law, and Obama Snr's father 'didn't want the Obama blood sullied by a white woman'.
In fact Ann divorced her husband after she discovered his bigamous double life. She remarried and moved to Indonesia with young Barack and her new husband, an oil company manager.
Obama Snr was forced to return to Kenya, where he fathered two more children by Kezia. He was eventually hired as a top civil servant in the fledgling government of Jomo Kenyatta - and married yet again.
Now prosperous with a flashy car and good salary, his third wife was an American-born teacher called Ruth, whom he had met at Harvard while still legally married to both Kezia and Ann, and who followed him to Africa.
A relative of Mr Obama says: "We told him[Barack] how his father would still go to Kezia and it was during these visits that she became pregnant with two more children. He also had two children with Ruth."
It is alleged that Ruth finally left him after he repeatedly flew into whisky-fuelled rages, beating her brutally.
Friends say drinking blighted his life - he lost both his legs while driving under the influence and also lost his job.
However, this was no bar to his womanising: he sired a son, his eighth child, by yet another woman and continued to come home drunk.
He was about to marry her when he finally died in yet another drunken crash when Obama was 21.
Mr Obama's 40-year-old cousin Said Hussein Obama told The Mail on Sunday: "Clearly, Barack has been very deeply affected by what he has learned about his father, who was my father's older brother.
"You have to remember that his father was an African and in Africa, polygamy is part of life.
"We have assured Barack that his father was a loving person but at times it must be difficult for him to reconcile this with his father's drinking and simultaneous marriages."
Said adds: "His father was a human being and as such you can't say that he was 100 per cent perfect.

So Hamas is Beaten, eh?

We will not go down! (Song of Gaza)video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlfhoU66s4YAbout this love affair with President Obama.
blog editor's remarks: I was disappointed and distressed to note in the speech given just hours ago by Pres. Obama that he castigated the Palestinians and Hamas for sending rockets into Israel. What he did not say (and should have) is that the Israelis have acted with extreme brutality, killing several thousand Palestinians including small children, using phosphorus bombs and claymore mines. He was absolutely mute about the way the Israelis have herded the Palestinian population into a tiny area, sealing them in and preventing vital supplies from reaching them. The rockets were just an ineffectual way of fighting back. After all Hamas was democratically elected, but Israel and the U.S. harassed this legitimate from the start. So much for the B.S. that America supports democratic governments. In the past the U.S. has supported many cruel dictators, including Saddam Hussein.
It seems to me, as I suspected before, that Pres. Obama, intelligent and likeable though he is......a brilliant orator with a magnetic personality, is just another of the long line of American presidents continuing wars of profit for the big corporations. This one has more pizzaz, so he will be able to promise a lot but in the end do very little to bring peace to the world. I would be so happy if I am proven wrong. (Ric)

In the fourth of his extraordinary films about what life is really like for the US military in Afghanistan John D McHugh talks to Charlie company as they attempt to follow the often contradictory instructions laid out in the Counterinsurgency Field Manual
Bush behind Bars (where he should be.)
In his new book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder (Vanguard Press, 2008), Vincent Bugliosi, the man who successfully prosecuted Charles Manson for murder, argues convincingly that President George W. Bush's conduct in taking the U.S. military to war against Iraq under false pretenses in March of 2003 qualifies him to be prosecuted for murder in any state in the nation. The victims in the case would be all the soldiers from that state that were killed in the war against Iraq. He lays out his case in a devastatingly logical and methodical manner, weaving together all the relevant facts to paint the definitive portrait of just how reckless and criminal was the behavior of President Bush in his push for war against Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Famous for his true crime books, such as the book about Charles Manson that launched his literary career, Helter Skelter, Bugliosi shows us that he is still in fine form.
It is official. According to a bipartisan Senate report, then Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and President George W. Bush bear responsibility for the torture and abuse of prisoners at Abu Ghraib, Bagram and Guantanamo and the tossing aside of the Geneva Conventions, which are part of US law. It mystifies me as to why this report is being announced now, at the end of the week and at a time of the year in the political calendar when it will not get much play. The report calls for no sanctions to be imposed, even though it implies that high US officials committed war crimes. *******************************************************************UN body wants Bush tried for torture

Gropecunt Lane
Gropecunt Lane was a name used in Oxford, London and other Englishtowns and cities in the Middle Ages for streets where prostitutes conducted their business. The name derives from cunt, the Middle English term forfemale genitalia, and the act of groping. There was also a Gropecunt Lane inDublin, Ireland near where the Savoy Cinema is now. Later sensibilities changed many names of streets bearing this name to more polite variations. In London, the street that was Gropecunt Lane was near the present-day site of the Barbican Centre in the City of London. The street was called Grub Street in the 18th century, but renamed Milton Street in 1830 . Another street with a similar history in Southwark is Horselydown Lane ("whores lie down"), which is just to the south of Tower Bridge, and was also the site of the famousAnchor Brewhouse.

We come in Third with Williams.
Williams
is a patronymic form of the name William that originated in medieval England[2] and later came to be extremely popular in Wales. The meaning is derived from son or descendant of Guillemin, the French form of William. Derived from an Old French given name with Germanicelements; will = desire, will; and helm = helmet, protection.[3] It is the second most common surname in Wales and the third most common surname in the whole of the United Kingdom, the third most common in the United States of America and Australia and the fifth most common inNew Zealand.[4]Old Harry Williams was asked how was it that the long list of Williams lead by far those of Nash over the last couple of hundred years.
"Well, let's see.Them Nashes they was more posh and they kept the family bible, so we lot had nothing to read at night. There was no T.V. in them days, and we didn't want to waste candles, so we used to all jump in bed together and make more Williams's."

Australia. The first fleet sailed from England in 1787 carrying marine William Nash and his common law wife Maria Haynes. They were the progenitors of an extensive Nash family in Australia. Another early settler was Andrew Nash. He had acquired the Woolpack Inn in Parramatta in 1821 and became well-known for the prowess of his racehorses. A later settler from Wiltshire was James Nash. He discovered gold along the Mary river in Queenland and helped precipitate the second Australian gold rush.
There were also Nash convicts in Australia. Some thrived; Robert Nash, transported on the Albemarle in 1791; John Nash on the Eleanor in 1831; and Michael Nash from Limerick, on the Rodney in 1851.

*The Australian Lyre Bird is the world's best imitator; able to mimic the calls of 15 different species of birds in their locality and string the calls into a melody. Also been known to mimic the sound mobile phones.
*The echidna is such a unique animal that it is classified in a special class of mammals known asmonotremes, which it shares only with the platypus. The echidna lays eggs like a duck but suckles its young in a pouch like a kangaroo. For no apparent reason, it may decide to conserve energy by dropping its body temperature to 4 degrees and remain at that temperature from 4 to 120 days. Lab experiments have shown that the echidna is more intelligent that a cat and it has been seen using its spikes, feet and beaks to climb up crevices like a mountaineer edging up a rock chimney.
*Purple wallaby - The Purple-neck Rock Wallaby [Petrogale Purpureicollis], inhabits the Mt Isa region in Northwest Queensland. The Wallaby secretes a dye that transforms its face and neck into colours ranging from light pink to bright purple.
*The Fierce Snake or Inland Taipan has the most toxic venom of any snake. Maximum yield recorded (for one bite) is 110mg. That would probably be enough to kill over 100 people or 250,000 mice.
*The Wombat deposits square poos on logs, rocks and even upright sticks that it uses tomark its territory.
*A 10kg Tasmanian Devil is able to exert the same biting pressure as a 40kg dog. It can also eat almost a third of its body weight in a single feeding.
*Australia is the smallest, flattest, and driest inhabited continent in the world. It is the only country which is also a whole continent.
*Over 90% of Australia is dry, flat and arid. Almost three-quarters of the land cannot support agriculture in any form.
*A baby kangaroo at the time of its birth measures 2 centimetres.

*Kangaroos need very little water to survive and are capable of going for months without drinking at all. When they do need water, they dig 'wells' for themselves; frequently going as deep as three or four feet. These 'kangaroo pits' are a common source of water for other animals living in the kangaroo's environment.

Kangaroo attacks dog, man. ^
*A kangaroo being chased by a dog may jump into a dam. If the dog gives chase, the kangaroo may turn towards the dog, then use its paws to push the dogs head underwater in order to drown it.
*Emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards, and are on the Australian coat of arms for that reason.
*A monotreme is a animal that lays eggs and suckles its young. The world's only monotremes are the platypus and the echidna.
*The male platypus has a poisonous spine that can kill a dog and inflict immense pain on a human.
*When a specimen of the platypus was first sent to England, it was believed the Australians had played a joke by sewing the bill of a duck onto a rat.
*Box Jelly fish - The box jellyfish is considered the world's most venomous marine creature. The box jellyfish has killed more people in Australia than stonefish, sharks and crocodiles combined.
*The Sydney Funnelweb spider is considered the world's most deadly spider. It is the only spider that has killed people in less than 2 hours. Its fangs are powerful enough to bite through gloves and fingernails. The only animals without immunity to the funnelweb's venom are humans and monkeys.
*Lung fish - Queensland is home to lung fish, a living fossil from the Triassic period 350 million years ago.

Convicts
*It is estimated that by the time transportation ended in 1868, 40 per cent of Australia's English-speaking population were convicts.*A census taken in 1828 found that half the population of NSW were Convicts, and that former Convicts made up nearly half of the free population.
*In 2007, it was estimated that 22 per cent of living Australians had a convict ancestor.
*Convicts were not sent to Australia for serious crimes. Serious crimes, such as murder, rape, or impersonating an Egyptian were given the death sentence in England.
*Crimes punishable by transportation included recommending that politicians get paid, starting a union, stealing fish from a river or pond, embezzlement, receiving or buying stolen goods, setting fire to underwood, petty theft, or being suspected of supporting Irish terrorism.
* Alcohol- It has been reported that the first European settlers in Australia drank more alcohol per head of population than any other community in the history of mankind.
* Police force - Australia's first police force was a band of 12 of the most well behaved Convicts.
* Mass moonings - In 1832, 300 female Convicts at the Cascade Female Factory mooned the Governor of Tasmania during a chapel service. It was said that in a "rare moment of collusion with the Convict women, the ladies in the Governor's party could not control their laughter.
