My website with further information is as follows:http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/~aashmore Regards,William Nash came to Australia as a Marine with the First Fleet 1788 William and Mariah's first child, William, was baptised on Sunday 25th May 1788 A wedding was celebrated at St Phillip's, Sydney, on 13 February 1789, between William Nash, a marine, and Maria Haynes, a convict, in the presence of Elizabeth Gratten and Samuel Barnes (Chaplain's clerk) Mariah Haynes is not listed in John Cobley's 'Crimes of the First Fleet Convicts' By 1803 William & Maria had separated, and she took the children with her. Maria later became associated with two other men, Robert Guy and in 1816, with William Neale. | |
