A priest was caught watching clips from a porn film during prayers in a Sikh temple in north India.

Jasbir Singh Gill, who was attending the morning prayers session, noticed that the priest was allegedly "not concentrating on the prayers" and was distracted by "something underneath the table on which the scriptures were placed".

Mr Gill said: "I was shocked to see the priest was actually busy watching pornographic clips on his mobile phone that he had cleverly hidden under the table."

The chief priest of the gurudwara in Jhar Sahab, near Ludhiana, Punjab was called, but the priest managed to escape leaving his mobile phone behind. A complaint was later filed to a police station in Ludhiana.

A police spokesman said: "We have registered a complaint against the accused after checking the porn movie clips on his mobile."

SEATTLE – Federal agents said Wednesday they are searching for a former Sikh priest named in a human trafficking indictment this month. He is believed to be with a teenage girl recently smuggled into the U.S. from India.

Harchand Singh was one of four men named in a 30-count federal indictment June 7, alleging a conspiracy to smuggle women from India to Canada and from there into Washington state. Three of the men were arrested and pleaded not guilty to the charges this week.

But Mike McCool, with the Seattle office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said agents have been unable to find Singh. The identity of the girl was not released, but she could be in danger, he said. Prosecutors wrote in court papers that another woman smuggled as part of the alleged conspiracy said Singh raped her.

"We are concerned about the violence that goes on with some of these individuals who are smuggled in," McCool said, holding a photo of Singh. "They are at the behest of the smuggler

Not only was the Nelson woman's evidence of a childhood torn asunder by a brutal, sexually abusive uncle believable, the judge went so far as to applaud her for sharing a private tragedy in a public courtroom so that others who suffered similar emotionally crippling incidents as kids would be emboldened to speak up.

It was soothing medicine for a woman who has been plagued by depression, anxiety, nightmares and troubled relationships for the past 40 years.

A CATHOLIC priest has been convicted of child sex offences dating back to the 1970s. Terrence Melville Pidoto, 62, of Bacchus Marsh, was found guilty of 11 charges, including one count of rape, one count of buggery and seven counts of indecent assault. Pidoto was ordained into the priesthood in 1971 and worked in Heidelberg, Box Hill North and Kilmore during the 1970s and early '80s. Seven people made allegations against Pidoto resulting in 22 charges.

Two Anglican priests in Nova Scotia and a former priest who served in Winnipeg are facing charges relating to sexually assaulting boys.

Rev. Wayne Lynch, 49, rector of St. John's Church in Halifax, and Rev. Michael Boyd, 47, rector of St. Andrew's Church in Hantsport, both face charges of indecent assault against the same male complainant.

A man who now lives in Winnipeg was between 14 and 15 years old during incidents alleged to have taken place in 1977 and 1978 in various Nova Scotia locations.

In an unrelated case, former Anglican priest Charles Griggs has admitted to sexually abusing a Winnipeg boy 30 years ago. He indicated at a hearing in June he will plead guilty to charges of indecent assault and gross indecency against one complainant, according to a report in the Winnipeg Sun.

Mr. Griggs will stand trial in December on sex charges against the man's younger brother. The incidents took place between 1965 and 1979 when Mr. Griggs was a priest at St. Barnabas Church.

Mr. Griggs was convicted in 1986 of abusing a 13-year-old altar boy at St. Bede's Church in Winnipeg the year before. After his guilty plea....
